Walker’s took the long ride to Greenwich yesterday to meet the Tigers of GCDS at their beautiful new turfed softball field on a windy and rainy Saturday, and it was worth the trip to come away with the first win of the season. Walker’s jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the top of the first, and after GCDS scored 2 in the bottom of the first, Walker’s scored another 6 in the top of the 2nd inning. Disciplined at bats created several walks, and everyone who played could reach base safely. Despite continuing showers, A. Riendeau ’26 on the mound maintained control, striking out 7 while only walking 2. She also contributed with a very strong bat with a triple and a home run while driving in 6 for the day. P. Arevalo ’25 had a triple, while Stella W. ’29 and K. Dabkowski ’26 had 3 walks. E.
Sheldon ‘26 had a nice defensive play at shortstop to end the game.
Walkers has a busy week coming up with road games on Wednesday
(Cheshire Academy), Friday (Loomis) and Saturday (Suffield Academy).
