Game Summary

Walker’s travelled to Farmington to face a talented Miss Porter’s team and Westover School in an all-girls triple dual meet on Wednesday, January 23. Walker’s defeated Westover 50-44, a bigger gap than previously in the season despite missing three varsity swimmers! The Wildcats started out strong in the first event, taking a 9-1 lead after the medley relay. In the 200 free, Brigid King ’20 again dropped time for a new personal best as did teammate Susannah Potts ’22. Bejay Mugo ’22 swam the 200 IM for the first time and scored points for Walker’s! Ashley Walker ‘20 had a strong race, coming in first against Westover by narrowly touching her opponent out. In the 100 freestyle, assistant captain Daniela Ramirez ’19 was .01 off her lifetime best and earned 3 points for Walker’s. Izzy O’Donnell ’20 swam the 100 fly for her first time and completed it in an impressive time.

The 500 was one of the best races of the day for Walker’s with both captain Erin Shanly ’19 and Asha Haug ’22 racing lifetime bests with three second drops apiece. In the 100 backstroke, Gloria Lin ’19 had a strong finish for first place points against Westover, also dropping .3 off of her best time. The relay combination of Alexia Grech ‘23, Ramirez ‘19, Brigid King ‘20, and Izzy O’Donnell scored first place points against Westover for the last event of the meet.

Walker’s hosts Hopkins and Convent of the Sacred Heart on Saturday for a 2:00 girls triple dual prior to hosting the Fitter Faster Tour for the weekend.
