EWAC Attends NGWSD Press Conference

On Wednesday, February 18, EWAC, Walker’s student athletic council, was invited to an inspiring press conference celebrating National Girls & Women in Sports Day, where Jani Weber ’26 took the stage to share her personal journey in sports.

Organized by Connecticut Lieutenant Governor Susan Bysiewicz and General Counsel for the Lieutenant Governor’s Office Tracy Opoku, the event celebrated women and girls in sports while highlighting athletics as a powerful driver of confidence, leadership, and growing business opportunities across Connecticut.

A lineup of accomplished leaders also spoke alongside Jani:
President of the Connecticut Sun Jen Rizzotti; COO of Hartford Athletic Michelle Roux; Executive Director of Capitol Squash Meg Taylor; UConn alum and first-round draftee into the Women’s Pro Baseball League Lexi Hastings; UConn alum, professional athlete, coach, and founder of Women and Kids Empowerment Batouly Camara; and UConn professor and Director of the Husky Nutrition & Sport Program Jen McGarry.
