Four Walker’s Lacrosse Players to Play in National Tournament

For the thirteenth consecutive year, Walker’s lacrosse players will help represent Connecticut in the US Lacrosse National tournament. Abby Grimaldi ’20 (Coventry, CT) was selected to the top team, Team #1; Lily Cullen ’20 (The Dalles, OR) was selected to the second team, and Alexa Varano ’22 (Avon, CT) and Jordana Doshna ’21 (Waterford, CT) were selected to the fourth team. Last season, three Walker’s athletes attended. The tournament will take place on Memorial Day Weekend at Cedar Lane Regional Park in Bel Air, MD. Since its inception in 1993, the tournament has become one of the nation’s marquee college recruiting events and since 2007, at least one Walker’s player has participated in the tournament.

Walker’s hosted the Connecticut regional tryout on Sunday, May 5 with over 160 participants from across the state. All high school-aged players can try out for this highly competitive and prestigious event. More than 1,200 of the nation’s top high school girls’ lacrosse players will showcase their talents to coaches representing more than 175 colleges. (ctlacrosse.org) The event was originally organized with the help of Walker’s 1963 graduate Susan Ford, a US Lacrosse Hall of Famer.
