Freshwoman to Represent Walker’s at the Connecticut Poetry Out Loud State Finals

Bejay Mugo

January 9, 2019

BeJay Mugo ’22 will represent Walker’s at the Connecticut Poetry Out Loud State Finals on Saturday, March 9.

BeJay was selected for the competition by members of Walker’s faculty following performances by four Walker’s students on January 7. Each finalist recited a poem of their choosing in front of the Walker’s community and were evaluated based on physical presence, voice and articulation, dramatic appropriateness, evidence of understanding and overall performance. BeJay recited “Tomorrow” by Dennis O’Driscoll.

The winner of the state finals will have the opportunity to represent the state of Connecticut in Washington, DC on April for the National Poetry Out Loud Competition.

Congratulations and best of luck, BeJay!
