Head of Middle School Welcomes Participants of NAIS People of Color Conference

Isabel Ceballos 2020 NAIS People of Color Conference Welcome

Congratulations to Head of Middle School Isabel Ceballos, who was invited by Vice President for Equity and Justice for the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS) Caroline Blackwell to deliver the Day Two NAIS People Of Color Conference (PoCC) Welcome to all participants. Isabel has participated as a PoCC Affinity Group Host for four years. The 2020 conference theme is New Decade, New Destinies: Challenging Self, Changing Systems, and Choosing Justice and keynote speakers include Eddie S. Glaude, Jr., Dr. Bettina L. Love, and Khyati Joshi, and Helen Zia.

The NAIS People of Color Conference is the flagship of the National Association of Independent Schools’ commitment to equity and justice in teaching and learning. The mission of the conference is to provide a space for leadership and professional development and networking for people of color and allies of all backgrounds in independent schools. PoCC equips educators at every level, from teachers to trustees, with knowledge, skills, and experiences to improve and enhance the interracial, interethnic, and intercultural climate in their schools, as well as the attending academic, social-emotional, and workplace performance outcomes for students and adults alike (pocc.nais.org).
