Walker’s varsity soccer team earned the #6 seed in the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class C Tournament. The team will travel to St. Luke’s in New Canaan, CT, on Wednesday afternoon for a 2:00 p.m. start with Coach Michael Smith, who is in his first season at Walker’s, and led by captains Alaina Vermilya ’20, Reagan Kerecz ’20, Ava Strohmeyer ’21 and Lizzy Strapp ’21.

Coach Smith credits the team’s competitive spirit, work rate and courageousness as critical attributes that helped them achieve the level of success they’ve had this season. “From day one, the team was dedicated to becoming a unified team which led to good chemistry on and off the field,” said Coach Smith. “Over the course of my coaching career, this has always been a vital first step in sustained winning.”

“Coming into the season as a first year coach, I didn’t have too many expectations beyond what I expect of any team I coach — which is to work hard individually towards becoming her best self so that the team can become its best self. The players on this team did this every day!”

The Walker’s soccer team has made post-season play two times in the last three seasons.
