Student Selected as Finalist in National Writing Competition

Walker’s freshwoman Kristen St. Louis ’21 was selected as one of three finalists in the Powerful Voices category in the 2018 Yes! National Student Writing Competition for her piece “Wipe Your Tears.”

The following excerpt from Kristin’s submission was selected to appear in the Literary Gems section of the Yes! Magazine website: “So, muneca, cry. Cry for the limitations the world will throw at you each and every day. Sob for the hardships you will face. But muneca, once you have cleared your tears away, lift your head up and look at the horizon. A new day dawns, and when it does, your future will be brighter than the sun.”
