Students Receive Scholastic Art Awards

Five Walker’s students have received Scholastic Art Awards this year, the nation’s longest-running and most prestigious recognition program for creative teens in grades 7-12 (artandwriting.org). The award-winning artworks will be on exhibit at the Silpe Gallery in Taub Hall at the Hartford Art School. Those earning Gold Keys are qualified for national recognition. Congratulations to all participants!

Scholastic Art Award recipients

  • Ten Zhong ’23: Gold Key and the Jerry’s Artarama of CT Best in Digital Art for “21 Days” (Digital Art category)
  • Patricia Sackor-Blamah ’22: Gold Key for “The Mirror’s Face” (Drawing & Illustration category) and Silver Key for “Tones of Time” (Mixed Media category)
  • Yolanda Chen ’22: Silver Key for “44100 Hz” (Expanded Projects category) and Silver Key and the Hartford Art School Scholarship for “Funeral of the Greats and the Smalls” (Portfolio category)
  • Jane Chen ’24: Honorable Mention for “Me, Myself, and I” (Drawing & Illustration category)
  • Etta Rathbun ’23: Honorable Mention for “Fire and Ice” (Fashion category)
