On Saturday, October 12, five field hockey teams from Canton, Simsbury, West Hartford, Goshen and Wethersfield joined Walker’s field hockey teams in a play day to raise $2,253 in the ninth annual Play4TheCure at Walker’s.

Event organizer Mimi Duran, Walker’s head varsity field hockey coach, thanked the community for the time and effort put into making the event a success. “I feel incredibly fortunate to be a part of a program with such dedicated parents and players who actively participate in working to fund cancer research to make a difference,” Duran said. “For the past nine years, I have witnessed how Play4TheCure inspires not only our athletes but the field hockey community. We come together to play the game of field hockey to ‘Play4’ loved ones affected by cancer. I’m appreciative to all of the players, coaches and community members who are dedicated to raising awareness and contributing to this event.”

Play4TheCure is a non-profit organization that dedicates its efforts to raise funds for the National Breast Cancer Foundation Inc. and The Foundation for Cancer Research through competitive sports featuring recreational sports clubs, middle schools, high schools and collegiate sporting events.
