For the first time since 2015, Walker’s will compete for the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class C Tournament title. Walker’s earned the fifth seed in the tournament which begins Wednesday, February 27. The team also qualified for the tournament in 2011, 2013, and 2015, each time winning in the first round before being beaten by the number one seed in the second round. The top eight teams in New England from each class qualify to play in the tournament.
This is the first time any of the 2018-2019 team members have competed in the tournament. The team is captained by Mariah Dunn ’19, Jelly Frigo ’20 and Hannah Iwaszkiewicz ’20 and coached by Head Coach John Monagan and Assistant Coach Nathaniel Johnson.
“Making the tournament is a credit to the work our team put in this season, and also in previous years,” said Monagan. “After being away from the tournament for a few years, it is great to be back. We are proud to represent Walker’s at this level of competition.”
Walker’s will take on #4 seed Wilbraham & Monson Academy in the first round. The game starts at 3:30 p.m. at the Wilbraham & Monson campus in Wilbraham, MA.
