Game Summary
On Saturday afternoon, The Ethel Walker School’s varsity soccer team traveled to West Hartford to take on Kingswood Oxford in Founder’s League and WWNEPSSA Class B action. With the 3-0 victory, Walker’s claimed fifth place in Founder’s League and also emerged as WWNEPSSA Class B Champions.
The opening goal of the game came in the ninth minute when Giesselle Peña ’26 scored her seventh goal of the season. It took nearly 25 minutes for the Wildcats to double their lead, but Peña was at it again as she got in behind the defense. Her first shot was saved and Nona Gibert Francisco ’28 was first to the rebound and placed the ball into the back of the net from near the 18-yard line.
In the waning moments of the first half, Maya Atwood ’26 found herself in space near midfield and looked up to calmly deliver a perfect ball around the back to Peña who slotted it home to finish off the 2025 regular season in style.
For Walker’s, the win marked their fourth shutout victory over Founder’s League opponents on the season and they ended the campaign with a 12-5 overall record. The Wildcats don’t know where or when their next game will be, but they will be waiting for news from NEPSAC about their seeding for the NEPSAC Class B tournament. The quarterfinal will kick off on Wednesday, November 12th at 2:00pm.
