Grade 12
The Creative Innovation and Entrepreneurship Project (CIE) asks every senior to research and learn something new over the summer — with a mentor, a written plan, and at least 20 hours of engagement — then return in the fall to tell the story of their entrepreneurial and innovative project. The CIE Project is a capstone of the Walker’s Capabilities Approach. The project allows students to learn about and engage issues beyond Walker’s, with a focus on both individual growth and community impact. Past projects have included research internships and inquiry projects, professional licensure and work experience (such as LNA/CNA), learning professional skills — from baking or stage management — and contributing to community kitchens or community productions. The project’s purpose is to give every graduate a direct, lived experience in self-directed and impact driven work — a capability that Walker’s considers fundamental to lifelong growth. All students will showcase their projects and will be evaluated as either Meets Expectations or Does Not Meet Expectations.
