Walker’s Science Club traveled to the Providence VA Medical Center and Brown University on Sunday, January 12, accompanied by science teachers Dr. Piela and Dr. Mitchell. They visited the lab of Dr. Qing Lu, an associate professor at Brown and a research biologist at the Medical Center.
Dr. Lu met with the Science Club to share her research on pulmonary cell biology and lung inflammation, specifically how cigarette smoke and vaping affect the lungs. She also gave the Science Club a tour of her lab. After the tour, the group explored parts of Brown University and neighboring restaurants before venturing back to Walker’s.
