“Hi, I’m Quinn!! I am currently a sophomore, but I joined the Walkers community in eighth grade! Being a cicerone is important to ensure you’re not hearing only from adults who love the school, but also from students who want your kid to be successful in our environment that we get to and love to show to all!! Our classrooms allow kids of all learning styles to flourish in their own different ways! So everyone’s education is allowed to go beyond their goals.”
At Walker’s, we always get unique experiences, and I never thought I would be a part of the community partnership with Special Olympics Basketball, where I get to help teach basketball and play against others, and it ended up being one of my favorite parts of Walker’s. It helps me connect with other people, and at the end of the day feels very good knowing that you made somebody smile, and we all have an amazing time.
Walkers prepares me for my future by challenging me in everything I do. That can be class-wise or just by challenging my actions. They are very good at holding you accountable if you make a mistake, but don’t dwell on it; it is forgotten after everything is handled, so you can learn and move on. They teach you valuable lifelong lessons that you can use in the future.
My favorite thing to do is play basketball with my outside AAU team, and I love hanging out with them throughout the fall, spring, and summer. I also love hanging out with my friends and family during breaks and the summer, as I don’t see them as often during the school year, so it is nice to reconnect and catch up. Finally, I love listening to music, as it just lets me feel free and also helps me focus during sports or studying! It is also great to pass the time!
