“Hi! My name is Ella and I began my time at Walker’s as a freshman. I think being a Cicerone is important because this is such a special community and proudly sharing what I love about Walker’s is so special. It helps prospective families understand more about our campus.”
My favorite class is history. I love to learn about where we come from and why the world is the way it is.
A unique experience I have had at Walker’s happened last year. During the ski season on our last race, some of my friends organized a fan bus to come in and surprise us at the mountain. They brought signs, snacks, and a lot of enthusiasm. It was such a heartwarming moment that I will never forget.
My favorite part about a typical day on campus is breakfast. I always end up sitting with people who I don’t have classes with or live in the same dorm with.
My favorite part about dorm life at Walker’s is the one hour between study hall and in-room. My friends and I always either watch movies, play cards, or play some sort of game. This is a time that we all relax, chat, and can really be ourselves.
My best piece of advice for an incoming Walker’s student would be to do everything. When I first started at Walker’s, I ate every meal in the dining hall, I talked to everyone in my classes, and I spent as much time outside of my room as possible so I got to know everyone and experience what it was like to be in such magical place.
The biggest benefit I have seen from my time at Walker’s has been my social skills. When living in a dorm, you talk to new people who you would not normally spend a lot of time with and I have learned how to make new friends feel included and use my time to get to know other people.
Since starting my time at Walker’s I have grown a lot. Academically I have worked on my writing skills — I have become a better writer and I have broadened my horizons on what classes I enjoy. I now even like math class!
Walker’s has prepared me for the future because it has taught me how to be an independent thinker. During classes at Walker’s, you get asked tough questions and are asked to bring your best self and explore other ways of thinking.
My favorite thing to do in my free time is draw. I love that I get to express myself and play with color.
