Hi! My name is Emma Mazur. I am a junior and this is my third year at Walker’s. I became a Cicerone so that I can make an impact on this community by creating a welcoming environment for current and perspective students. I believe that Cicerones should represent the community and show exactly how friendly Walker’s truly is.”

What is your favorite class and why?

My favorite subject throughout my time at Walker’s has been history. This semester, I am taking Advanced Supreme Court with Mr. O’Dwyer. I love this class in particular because the topics we cover are current matters. I believe it is important to understand the legal component related to decisions that affect everyday life.

What advice would you give to an incoming Walker’s student?

As a new student, try to make as many friends as possible — and the easiest way to do this is through sports. This advice was given to me, but I would love to pass it on to new students. Play a new sport; ride a horse, pick up a lacrosse stick, or take a yoga class. It’s surprising where you could meet your new best friend.

What do you think is the biggest benefit of attending school at Walker’s?

The biggest benefit I’ve noticed from my time at Walker’s has been an improvement in my academic focus. This is because the faculty have engaging teaching styles that encourage active participation in and out of class. As a result, the classroom becomes a positive learning environment where students are confident to take risks and try harder on all assignments.
