Involvement: Volleyball, Proctor, Asian Student Collective
“Hi, I’m Joon and I came to Walker’s in 9th grade and have been boarding since. Being a Cicerone means being someone families can remember from Walker’s. Inviting people into and sharing Walker’s is a privilege and I enjoy meeting all the new families from all around the world. I also feel like Admission is a lot easier from a student’s standpoint when people who are your age and understand you are touring and talking with you. It feels like a lot less pressure. I hope I can rightfully show the joy and sisterhood that Walker’s has to offer to our prospective students.”
English, because creative writing and reading are my favorite things to do.
I definitely didn’t think I was going to be a Proctor coming into freshman year. But living in the same dorm for two years made me so much closer with my dorm parents that not applying to be a Proctor didn’t seem like an option!
I look forward to volleyball practice after school and the walk back from dinner when you get to see the sunset and pass by friends you might not have expected to see.
Becoming as close as a family with your roommates and suitemates.
Always try new sports, especially if you are with your friends. It broadens your experience and you might discover a love for something you didn’t know about.
The class size and closeness to your teachers.
I’ve become much more outgoing and willing to try new things, as well as much more responsible and independent with my schoolwork.
I’ve learned so many useful things through the Capabilities Approach Program and also simple life skills through boarding and living in a more “college-like” environment.
Read outside on the chairs with friends.
