A Sun and graduate of the Class of 2013, Lena Springer is recognized for excellence as a multi-sport athlete and standout softball pitcher. At Walker’s, she was a four-year varsity letter winner in softball and also lettered in soccer and volleyball. A four-time team MVP and all-region selection, she was twice awarded the William C. Lickle Athletic Cup. On the mound, Lena recorded 605 strikeouts and led the Wildcats to a New England Class B Championship her senior year.
Lena launched her collegiate career playing Division I softball at the University of Central Florida and later transferred to Ohio State University, where she was a three-year letterwinner and helped lead two teams to NCAA Tournament appearances. She also represented Puerto Rico in international competition at the 2013 World Championships.
After earning her undergraduate degree, Lena completed a master’s in sports administration at Delaware State University while beginning her coaching career. She has since coached at several collegiate programs and now serves as head softball coach at Trinity College, continuing to mentor and develop student athletes.
