“I’ve lived on the Walker’s campus since my sister started here in 7th grade, and I started 4th. Both of my parents teach here, my sister is the Class of 2024, and I entered in 6th grade. Being a Cicerone is important to me because many perspectives from many different people can help families make the decision to join our community. As a student who focuses primarily on the arts, I’ve always struggled with choosing a co-curricular for the seasons when theater isn’t offered, and as such, I have tried out many different sports, as well as clubs. I aim to help prospective students and families know that there is something here for every Walker’s student, whether that be a club like Harmonious Bells, or a sport like squash. Openness and a willingness to experiment can shape the Walker’s experience in an incredibly positive way.”

What is your favorite class and why?

I love English, mostly because both of my parents are English teachers and my dad is a poet.

What is a unique experience you’ve had at Walker’s that you didn’t think you’d be involved in when arriving at Walker’s?

I tried theater for the first time in 6th grade and I immediately loved it. I was extremely shy when I was younger, so I didn’t think I could do it, but the community was so supportive and helped me feel so much more comfortable with using my voice.

What is your favorite part of your typical day at Walker’s? What do you look forward to every day?

Lunch is really fun, especially when you sit with a big group of people. My friends and I always crowd around one table and have the best time hanging out together! I also love that you can sit really anywhere. Everyone is so friendly!

What advice would you give to an incoming Walker’s student?

Try to be open to anything! Who knows — maybe you’ll find out you love African Drumming, or maybe you’ll discover you’re really good at coding!

What do you think is the biggest benefit of attending school at Walker’s?

Definitely the community and the academic opportunities. The teachers and advisors are very good at helping us achieve our goals and trying our best.

How do you feel you have grown (academically, emotionally, mentally) since your first day at Walker’s?

I’m much more confident in classes like math and science. I’ve struggled with math for a while, but the teachers at Walker’s are super supportive and help you when you have issues with anything.

How do you think Walker’s has prepared you for your future?

It’s hard to say yet, but I think it has helped me be a kinder person. There are people from so many different backgrounds and cultures at Walker’s, and it really has helped me to get to know people better and more deeply.

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?

My friends and I hang out in the practice rooms and play music together. It’s so fun!
