Involvement: Peer Tutor, Student Ambassador, Head of African Drumming, Head of Bell Choir, Ethel Walker Athletic Council (EWAC), Varsity Soccer, Varsity Lacrosse, and JV Basketball
Hi, my name is Maya! I was admitted to Walker’s in the eighth grade and I am now a senior! I can honestly say that after being here for four years, Walker’s is truly an amazing place. At Walker’s you are able to make some of the most meaningful connections with peers and also faculty members. Whether it’s in the classroom, at a sport practice, or in a club, you will always find a supportive environment that allows students to make mistakes and pushes them to face challenges and work outside of their comfort zone. As a Cicerone I have the privilege of educating prospective families about a student’s experience at Walker’s and showing them all that this wonderful school has to offer!”
Before joining Walker’s, I had never heard of the African Drumming or Bell Choir clubs. I hadn’t taken a music class since elementary school. Nonetheless, I decided to sign up for African Drumming and Bell Choir to help me complete a performing arts requirement. I never knew that from that moment, I would fall in love with both of these music clubs and eventually decide to become the Head of both of them! Without these unique clubs I wouldn’t’ have been able to rediscover my love for creating music with others!
Walker’s doesn’t teach students how to pass tests. Instead, it helps to prepare students for life outside of our community. It teaches students to be problem solvers, take initiative, discover their passions, and use their voice. With these skills, students are able to thrive in any situation and can overcome any challenge.
I love going to the art studio! I enjoy helping my friends with their art projects and also creating my own pieces of art.
