“Hi! My name is Perlin, I am in the class of 2026. I came to Walker’s in 9th grade. Since the day I toured campus, I knew that I wanted to be a student ambassador or “Cicerone.” Being a Cicerone is important to me because I want to advertise the parts of my school that I love most which is also why I am one of the Co-Heads of the Cicerone Society. My passion for the school is something I pride myself in and want to share with others.”

What is your favorite part about being a boarder?

My favorite part about being a boarder at Walker’s is the extended opportunity it creates to build relationships with your classmates and teachers. It is truly an extraordinary experience to be able to live and share a space with the same adults you may have as teachers or coaches. Dorm parents are beyond welcoming and passionate about allowing the relationship between faculty and students to grow.

What advice would you give to an incoming Walker’s student?

TRY NEW THINGS!!! I can not emphasize how important it is to try new things, meet new people, and go to new places. Walker’s has so many opportunities to grow and excel in new areas of your life. Take advantage of them!

How do you feel you have grown (academically, emotionally, mentally) since your first day at Walker’s?

As an upperclasswoman looking back onto my freshman self, I can hardly recognize the girl I see. Being a Walker’s student has pushed me out of my comfort zone emotionally, academically, and athletically on countless occasions. I have learned to work through uncomfortable situations with not only my teachers and peers, but also myself. I have learned so much in the classroom academically, but also on how to utilize my knowledge and power to take action and do something good for my community.
