“Hi, my name is Piper! I joined Walker’s in 9th grade, and I’m a proud sun! Cicerones were a vital part of my decision to come to Walker’s. I want to give back the welcoming and community feeling I experienced when touring, and to share my favorite parts of our incredible campus. The Cicerone program is important because student-to-student connection is so valuable, and being able to share my experiences means prospective students get the best view of Walker’s possible.”
My favorite class is Physics! After taking both 9th Grade Physics and Advanced Physics, I can say I enjoyed all of it. Between the teaching, content, and group of students, I had so much fun participating in labs, doing group work, and exploring new concepts.
Getting to spend time with my friends in and out of class. Free periods to joke around, group work in classes, really any time I have to build connections with people.
Being a boarder gives you a tightly knit family to fall back on when you need support. It gives you access to faculty even in the evenings and social opportunities outside the school day. Despite this, the boarding and day communities don’t feel separated. Your dorm community being family doesn’t mean they are your closest friends, just ones you can always rely on.
Try everything you can. Even if you don’t think you have the talent or experience for something, just do your best. Try every music group, club, sport, leadership role, and even class you are curious about. There are so many incredible opportunities this school can give you, but you have to try. Giving speeches, showing up when you’re scared, and building a wide net of connections will benefit you so much as you continue your time here and build skills for long into your future.
