“Hi, I’m Renee Meyer-Pope, and I joined Walker’s in eighth grade! I am a part of the Cicerone society because I remember arriving at Walker’s and feeling so welcomed by all members of the community, whether that be students, faculty, or other people on campus. I instantly knew that Walker’s was for me because of the environment that fostered inclusivity and support. Because of that experience, I want to make sure that current prospective students receive that same introduction that I did. By being a Cicerone, I aim to show prospective families that Walker’s is not just a school, but also a family.”

What advice would you give to an incoming Walker’s student?

The advice that I would give to an incoming Walker’s student is to try something new! Walker’s has an immense amount of leadership opportunities, such as being a head of a club, trying a new sport, running to be a class officer, or applying to be a part of the Cicerone society! Since Walker’s has such an inclusive community, there is no judgment towards trying a new activity. I would apply for something that aligns with your interests, because you never know how that position might benefit you!

How do you think Walker’s has prepared you for your future?

For the past three years, Walker’s has prepared me for my future by teaching me how to effectively manage my time, and by helping me strengthen my communicational skills. By participating in in-class activities like open discussions and attending admissions events, I have been able to grow significantly in terms of communicating with others! Because of Walker’s, I have also learned how to balance co-curriculars and school work with activities outside of school!

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?

My favorite thing to do in my free time is to read! I love to read all genres, but my favorites are mystery, historical fiction, and dystopian. I also love to dance! I’ve danced competitively for the past 13 years, and I enjoy spending time in the studio with my friends.
