Betty joined the World Languages faculty at Walker’s to teach Spanish 1-4. A native Spanish speaker, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of Manizales in Colombia, with a focus on educational psychology.

Bringing over 12 years of teaching experience, Betty has worked as a Spanish teacher for PreK-8 grades in private schools in Torrington and Bristol, Connecticut, and has also taught English as a Second Language. Additionally, she has served as a bilingual tutor for several years with the Bristol Board of Education.

Betty has received training in the Comprehensible Input teaching methodology, which allows her to combine her expertise in psychology and education to create engaging, effective, and inclusive learning experiences for diverse students. Passionate about language and culture, she enjoys sharing her mother tongue and Colombian heritage to inspire and enrich her students’ learning journeys.
