Originally from Queens, New York, Jake moved to Connecticut when his mother accepted a position teaching mathematics at Kent School. He attended Rumsey Hall School and later South Kent School, giving him the unique experience of growing up as both a faculty child and a student in the independent boarding school community. These experiences gave Jake a deep appreciation for the sense of community, tradition, and belonging that define boarding schools and ultimately inspired him to pursue a career in education.

Jake earned a B.A. from Eastern Connecticut State University. A lifelong learner, he has continued his education by earning an M.Ed. in STEM from William Woods University, and is currently pursuing an M.S. in Data Analytics and an MBA in Organizational Management.

Jake began his teaching career as an intern at Choate Rosemary Hall. He then taught at Rocky Hill Country Day School in Rhode Island before returning to Connecticut, where he served as the Critical Thinking Chair and STEM Coordinator at Franklin Academy. Most recently, Jake taught mathematics at Avon Old Farms, where he also coached hockey and baseball.

Outside of the classroom, Jake enjoys spending time with his wife, Erin, and their daughter, Amara. A lifelong New York sports fan, he is a passionate supporter of the Mets, Jets, Islanders, and Knicks. Jake enjoys running every morning (in the rain, snow, or shine), spending time outdoors, and exploring new places whenever he can. He is an avid traveler and is close to achieving his goal of visiting every country in Europe, with only a few remaining, and every U.S. state, with Alaska as the final one on his list.
