Summer@Walker's allows students of all ages and skill levels to explore their unique interests. Below is an overview of the various programs offered through our summer programs. When two or more students from the same family are enrolled, a 10% discount is applied to the 2nd and child. Summer Arts Academy (Day)

Campers in 1st-8th grade choose their own schedule of five activities per day from tons of options in painting, drawing, theatre, pottery, printmaking, digital photography, choral music, creative writing, dance, musical theatre, sculpture, printmaking and more! Campers build social, artistic and problem-solving skills and confidence.
The musical theatre concentration is an exercise in experimential learning about musical production. The camp will put on a fully staged, choreographed and costumed production. Extended care offered.

Girls Film Academy (Residential)

Girls (ages 12-18) interested in filmmaking will turn their dreams into a reality through the Girls Film Academy at The Ethel Walker School. Students will have the opportunity to gain hands-on experience in screenwriting, shooting, directing, acting, editing, and making their own film in teams. The Academy will culminate in a premiere screening and awards ceremony of the finished films, and is a great way for young filmmakers to showcase their creativity and vision. Each girl will receive a DVD with the finished product of their movie.
Women & Film
In 2010, only 2% of all cinematographers and 18% of all editors in Hollywood were women. Women directed only 7% of the top 250 grossing films that same year, and accounted for 10% of all writers. (Source: The Center for the Study of Women in Television & Film)

Rosie's Girls (Day)

The Ethel Walker School is the first school in Connecticut to offer Rosie's Girls, a three week full day camp for girls in 5th through 9th grade. The camp was named after fictional cultural icon Rosie the Riveter, who represented the women working male jobs during World War II. Girls will be introduced to trades and technical fields that have historically been non-traditional choices for women. Campers will also participate in group discussions and traditional camp activities. Extended care offered.

Global Girls Academy (Residential)

The Global Girls Academy at The Ethel Walker School is an intensive summer English language and American culture immersion program for girls ages 12-18 from around the world. Summer Riding Experience

The Summer Riding Experience at The Ethel Walker School, Walker’s popular summer riding camp, is an extension of the rich riding program we offer students during the school's academic year. The camp offers a safe, comprehensive and enjoyable program for a small number of riders of all ability levels, and assists them in developing self-confidence and good horsemanship skills. At SRE, riders will learn elements of equitation, jumping, dressage and cross country. Learn More. Chess Camp

Campers of all ages and abilities will have the opportunity to learn the game of chess by experienced tournament professionals through Chess Camp at The Ethel Walker School. Grab the Torch Camp at The Ethel Walker School is a 5-day overnight camp for high school students who wish to learn more about the business and commitment of the non-profit, philanthropic world. Sessions will include presentations by a variety of non-profit professionals, leaders, and volunteers dedicated to inspiring philanthropy in the next generation.
Connecticut Valley Harp Intensive

The Connecticut Valley Harp Intensive at The Ethel Walker School overnight/day camp accepts harpists of all levels between the ages of 12 and 20. The program, which requires harpists to choose between a solo, ensemble-based, or combined track to follow during the week, culminates in a final recital where players will perform solo or as a part of the group.
