“I joined Walker’s community in my freshman year. I think it is very important to be a Cicerone because I love this community so much that I hope to show this to all the prospective families and visitors. As a Cicerone, I have the opportunity to show the school to visitors and let them feel my unique perspective through my tour. I believe that through my tour, visitors can feel the warmth and unity of this community. At the same time, as an international student and a boarder, I hope that I can set a good example for prospective families to feel the safety of this community and let them feel at ease to send their students to school here.”

What is your favorite class and why?

My favorite class is Advanced Calculus. Although it’s hard, I feel the whole class is working together and learning new things. This class made me feel very involved and have learned a lot.

What is a unique experience you’ve had at Walker’s that you didn’t think you’d be involved in when arriving at Walker’s?

I have participated in a lot of dance performances and a lot of tennis matches. I no longer feel afraid to fail and always seek the next chance. These are the things I never thought that I’d be involved in before arriving at Walker’s.

What is your favorite part of your typical day at Walker’s? What do you look forward to every day?

My favorite part of my day at Walker’s is the co-curriculars, during which I’m able to dance every day after school. This helps me to relax after a whole day of studying. It also makes me happy and healthy.

What is your favorite part about being a boarder?

All boarders can hang out together in the dorms and celebrate birthdays together. When I have any questions on my work, I can just knock on my friend’s door and ask her for help. I feel everyone is together in the dorms.

What advice would you give to an incoming Walker’s student?

Try all the new things at Walker’s and take every chance.

What do you think is the biggest benefit of attending school at Walker’s?

I feel everyone around me being supportive and warm whenever I need help. I feel fully involved in this community and I rarely feel homesick.

How do you feel you have grown (academically, emotionally, mentally) since your first day at Walker’s?

I have become more organized in both studies and in life, and I am better able to regulate my emotions under pressure. Also, I realize that it’s important to have confidence in yourself.

How do you think Walker’s has prepared you for your future?

All the courses I take in Walker’s are really important and have prepared me for my future studying. Also, in the Capabilities Approach Program, all of the courses are helpful for me in the future, such as public speaking, the swim test, learning CPR, teaching a class, etc. I feel confident all the time to challenge myself and try new things.

What is your favorite thing to do in your free time?

I like to spend time in the dance studio to dance or do exercise there and hang out with my friends in the dorm.
