“Hi, I’m Izzy, and I’ve been at Walkers since 8th grade and am excited to show families the warm and welcoming community that makes me love this school. I love getting to know prospective families and introducing them to all of my favorite parts of walkers like the dance studios, hangout spaces, and dorms”
My favorite part of the day is free time spent with friends or at dance class with Dance Workshop. The memories I have made with Dance Workshop are some of my most cherished. Dance at Walker is unlike any other training I have had because of Ms. Soule and all of our team’s fantastic dancers, who make dance feel like a family.
Dorm parents are the reason why border life is special to me. In the past year, I have studied with Dr. B and classmates, laughed with my advisor, Dr. Mitchell, cuddled with Ms. Wetmore’s dogs, and eaten various delicious baked goods. Dorm parents cater to the types of students living in each house, from helping with college essays in Cluett to preventing homesickness in Lucy Jean House.
Shy and scared are words that perfectly describe me the first day I stepped foot on campus. Over time, with peer and teacher support, I have grown into someone who constantly makes announcements at morning meetings and is super involved around campus. Adults at Walker’s have encouraged me to take rigorous classes I never thought I was capable of taking, and I have become a version of myself that I am proud of.
