Our soccer program assists in the development of strong, confident and capable student-athletes whose technical, and tactical aptitudes will lend themselves well to whatever level each player’s ambition leads them. We value accountability, resiliency, hard work, loyalty, selflessness, and respect as we strive to create a team environment where everyone feels valued and appreciated.
Walker’s soccer program competes in the Class C New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) and also the Women’s Western New England Preparatory School Soccer Association (WWNEPSSA). Walker’s is also a member school in the prestigious Founders League. League competitors include Choate, Taft, Hotchkiss, Loomis, Westminster, Kent, Kingswood Oxford, and Miss Porter’s.

Coach Colin R. Griggs entered the coaching ranks at Walker’s during the fall of 2022 when he took on the role of Head Coach for both the varsity soccer and squash programs. In 2023, Walker’s won their first WWNEPSSA Class C title and Griggs was named CT Prep School Coach of the Year. In 2024, Walker’s won their first NEPSAC tournament game en route to the Class C semifinals. It got better in 2025 when the Wildcats jumped up to Class B and earned a WWNEPSSA title along with receiving the #2 seed in the NEPSAC Class B tournament. In squash, Walker’s won the 2024 NEPSAC Class E title.
Since the spring of 2024, Coach Griggs coached for CFC North, and will be the coach for the U10 girls’ team for the newly named FC North during the 2026-27 season.
Prior to arriving at Walker’s, Griggs spent time as the head coach of the Black Rock FC Residential Academy team at High Mowing School from 2019 to 2021 and was at Hebron Academy from 2010 to 2019. At Hebron, Griggs coached over 400 athletic contests in soccer, basketball and tennis. He coached on the sidelines in a NEPSAC Final in all three sports over the course of those nine years and recorded over 200 varsity head coaching wins.
As a coach, Griggs is an enthusiastic supporter of his athletes and tries to always find the best opportunities for them to have fun in competitive environments. During his playing career, Griggs played both soccer and tennis at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, Pennsylvania. From a personal standpoint, Griggs has attended six World Cups and is an avid Liverpool FC fan. He grew up in Guilford, Connecticut and now resides on campus with his wife, Sarah, and their two sons, Raleigh and Henry.
